Australian World Supersport rider Glenn Scott suffered a compound fracture to his left tibia and a fracture to his left fibula after a low-side crash at Motorland Aragon in Spain that caused him to slide across the track and collide with another rider who was exiting pit lane.

Scott was immediately transported to a hospital in Alcañiz before being transferred to Barcelona, where he underwent surgery on the Sunday night.

The Australian is expected to make a full recovery with ongoing physiotherapy to help him along the way, however he will miss the next 2 rounds of the World Supersport Championship, which are held in Assen and Imola. He has set a goal of making it back on track at Sepang for the Malaysian Round in 5 weeks.

“This has definitely been one of the most painful and uncomfortable experiences for me,” said the Gemar Balloons Team Lorini Honda rider. “It was a very unlucky accident with an even more unlucky outcome, but despite everything I am in high spirits. It has now been one week after my operation and I’m feeling more determined to make my goal of Malaysia a reality, as my progress is coming along more quickly than expected. I am 100% focused on getting back on the bike as soon as possible.

“I would like to send a very special thank you to all the Motorland Aragon Circuit staff and the Clinica Mobile staff for providing me with the best care possible straight after the accident. I would also like to thank my team, everyone who has sent me well wishes, and a special mention to my beautiful girlfriend for flying all the way from Australia to look after me here in Spain.”

WorldSSP will be back on track at the TT Circuit Assen on the 15^th to the 17^th of April, with the Dutch and Riviera di Rimini Rounds to take place before the WorldSBK paddock returns to Asia to Sepang International Circuit near Kuala Lumpur.
